Glossary
Extensible markup language is used primarily for Web
pages. XML allows the author to
extend and customize basic HTML formatting by creating proprietary tags and
text behaviors. XML is meant to emphasize intelligent and logical
formatting within technical documents in order to streamline searching and
categorizing, and to ensure total cross-browser compatibility.
